The Story of the Red Pants

It has become one of my favorite stories because of the impact it has had on my loved ones.
My son-in-law had just gotten a good paying job. It was apparent God’s hand was on him because he had just gone from job to job to job, of his own accord, making more money each time, as I cringed with my old mindset thinking he should stay put where he was.
But what do I know.
So, he walks into our house one day talking about how he wants to change jobs AGAIN because he “wants him some of those red pants” those men get to wear who work for that other crew where he works.
Now, I need to insert right here that my son-in-law is 100% red-blooded American heterosexual, married to my daughter, redneck deer-hunter.
But for some strange reason, he wanted to wear those red pants to work. (I will get to the reason why God put this inside him in just a minute)
So, he asks one of the red pants-wearing-crew and they send him to the boss, and he goes to the boss and straight up says “How do I get to wear me some of those red pants?” So, he gets hired. And again, a bump in pay.
(By the way, can I just stop right here and say to the men out there, how many jobs do you usually get, with large increases in pay, by starting out walking up to the owner and asking, "HOW DO I GET TO WEAR ME SOME OF THOSE RED PANTS?'")
Well, after only 2 months on the job, he gets incapacitated and can’t work for a bit.
So then, via a phone interview only, the owner of the company hires my daughter and pays her while she trains! She is now working from home, working and going to school.
Then my son is looking for work. He is probably one of the most qualified applicants available in the job market in our area but cannot find employment. Until he gets a phone interview with the owner of, you guessed it, the company of the red pants.
So as the owner is driving through the mountains of North Carolina, he does the interview with my son on the phone and hires him on the spot. And because so many details of this story are personal, and some are "larger than life", I cannot even tell you the most powerful parts, but hope to very soon.
But for now, here is an obvious point to remember: Never, EVER, think that you can figure out how God is going to provide. Ever.
If we were playing poker, I would have gone ALL IN and bet against God EVER using somebody wanting to wear RED PANTS to provide for two families!
There are things that we tend to laugh at, to cast off, to refuse to consider, to ignore, because we have determined that God could not, would not POSSIBLY use it or them. And when we make ourselves JUDGES of what God will and will not do, we are sitting in God's chair..."There is only ONE Lawgiver and Judge...James 4:12a
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Corinthians 1:27
God takes pleasure in choosing things which we think are foolish to show us how foolish are our own plans.
Things we have planned for, maybe for decades, can be destroyed in a moment, and God can go a different route in a split second and rebuild something that is more glorious than we have ever imagined.
He does it all to shame the strong and wise and reveal Himself as God of all.
